Happy 牛 Year!

Happy Cow Year!

I love Chinese New Year: the bustling, hustling air submerges me in the memories and colours of a playful childhood. Happy memories awashed in smells and nostalgia.

This year's preparations were late, by normal reckoning: causing a mad rush of buying and cleaning and scrubbing and wiping mere days before 除夕. But it was fun, no doubt.

I am also, pretty traditional: of the sort that fastidiously adheres to new year taboos and rituals.

No swearing, cleaning, cursing, moping.
Do not break anything.
Do not discuss morbid things.
Do not complain.
Do not look into your red packet until....erh..
Do not pass Go. Do not collect 200.

A journey of a thousand mile starts with but one step
